I received the following email today warning about Scam Artists targeting Legionnaires.

If you receive a request for gift cards or other charity, you should check its authenticity. Do not send money or supplies anywhere until you have verified.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Colorado Email Scam

Dan, This morning a number of our email contacts received a scam email from our Department Commander Dean Noechel with this message as follows:

“The American Legion Department of Colorado needs some gift cards for donation to Veterans at Hospice and Palliative care units for preventive items for Corona Disease (COVID 19). I have decided to make it a personal duty. I will be responsible for the reimbursement.”

Commander Dean did not send this out. It is a scam originating from Denmark.

Since Dean has most of the department commanders and others in the Legion family around the country in his contact list can you send this out to the wider list for their information?
